WINDERMERE — Foundation Academy bounced back after suffering its first loss of the season on Monday and defeated host Windermere Prep on Tuesday, 17-6.
The two teams were locked in a tie entering the fourth inning, but that's when the Lions' bats came alive. Foundation (7-1) scored 11 runs in the top half of the inning, including a home run by Kristen Lawrence and a grand slam by Stevi Ames — who also got the win on the mound for the Lions.
Windermere Prep's Alyssa Odonahoe responded with a 3-run home run of her own in the bottom half of the inning, fending off the 10-run rule for the moment, but Foundation added a few more runs to seal the deal and the game ended after five innings of play.
“We’re hitting the ball pretty good," Lions head coach Randy Ames said. "Defensively, we’ve struggled a little bit, just being a bit lazy. Nothing that practice can’t fix.”
Halina Lawrence also had three RBIs for Foundation. The Lions return to action on Thursday at 6 p.m. at home against Calvary Christian.
