Taylor Duran scored a goal with 15 seconds remaining on the clock, helping the Windermere Prep girls soccer team clinch a 2-1 win against Father Lopez on Thursday.
The win caps a strong regular season for the Lakers, who feel they are ready to run full force into the district tournament next week. Head Coach Greg Stone said that with a few players stepping up of late, the team has been playing at a higher level.
“I think it’s been a great season,” Coach Stone said. “We have a couple key players; Taylor Duran who has scored an amazing amount of goals this year. Kelly (Rowswell), the goalkeeper has been awesome, as well.”
Duran, a junior, scored both goals for Windermere Prep. During the season she has scored a total of 67 goals.
“It’s been a good season for me,” Duran said. “It’s my junior year, so I’m just trying to get better every year.”
The Lakers head into their district playoffs next week starting on Monday, Jan. 12, when they will face The First Academy.
