WINDERMERE — The West Orange Warriors girls golf team concluded a big week with a dominant performance in the Metro West Girls Golf Tournament at Windermere Country Club on Sept. 30.
The Warriors placed first, compiling a 306 on the day — 63 strokes ahead of Dr. Phillips, which placed second with a 369. Olympia placed fourth with a 435.
Individually, West Orange was led by Janelle Sicguendo's 75 (par 72), Aly Moya's 76 and Linna Brooks' 77. Brooks recently announced she would be golfing in college for UNC-Asheville.
Dr. Phillips' second place finish was anchored by Carlye Moore's 77.
Earlier in the week, West Orange won the 2015 Crutchfield Hawkins Invitational Tournament, hosted by Sebring High, a victory head coach Pete Abatiello believes may be a sign that his team is ready to get "over the hump" ahead of districts, regionals and the state tournament.
