Horizon West and other unincorporated Orange County residents can now download the Orange County Sheriff’s Office’s new app.

The app contains a directory of contact information for the department, as well as other local police departments and other hotlines that might be of interest to residents.

A tip section allows people to enter information they might know about a crime in investigation — residents are told to call 911 if it is an emergency or the crime is in progress.

Contact information for school resource officers is also listed in the application.

A log of calls, links to social media sites, safety tips, frequently asked questions, a list of wanted people and a map of sex offenders near you is also available.

The free app is available on both iTunes and the Google Play store. To download, type in “Orange County Sheriff’s Office.”
