Two cars crash in DP; none survives

DR. PHILLIPS  Florida Highway Patrol troopers continue to investigate a crash at about 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, on Interstate 4 near Sand Lake Road.

Reports indicate Fernando Clemente III, 44, of Orlando, was driving his van east in the westbound lanes for no known reason. His van collided head-on with a taxi driven by Harold Fabre, 39, of Orlando.

Both died at the site, despite wearing seat belts. Whether substances influenced Clemente is unknown at this time.

Troopers closed westbound interstate lanes at Kirkman Road for an estimation of three hours.
