PGA Tour volunteer challenge to help nonprofits

When Maitland resident Ken Hoffman began volunteering at the Arnold Palmer Invitational 35 years ago, he served on the security committee and eventually moved into leadership roles with several other committees. Today, as vice chairman of the executive board, Ken oversees all parking logistics, which involves onsite parking for patrons, media, VIP’s, caddies, and more. In addition, Ken arranges and oversees shuttle services of volunteers, vendors and fans. Locally, approximately 1,400 volunteers assist with such tasks as ticket sales, scoring and transportation for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which supports Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation. The selfless commitment of volunteers has enabled the tournament to generate millions of dollars for charity since its inception 38 years ago. Many volunteers, like Ken, participate in the PGA TOUR Volunteer Challenge, sponsored by Myrbetriq (mirabegron), a competition designed to raise funds for non-profit organizations while recognizing the talent, passion and commitment of PGA TOUR volunteers in communities nationwide. Tournament volunteers gather votes at PGATOUR.com/volunteers, and when voting ends on March 19, the volunteer with the most votes will have the chance to present a $10,000 check to the Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation.
