The city of Winter Garden announced the switch from fluorescent lights to Light-Emitting Diode lights.
The change took place at City Hall, where all fluorescent lights throughout the building have been replaced to reduce emissions, lower energy use and promote energy efficiency.
"The new LED lights use 40% to 70% less energy than the former fluorescent lights," the city posted.
This change was made after the city received a $76,560 grant from the Energy and Conservation Block Grant Program, which awarded a total of $430 million in grants to more than 2,700 governments across the nation.
