A fire incident occurred Friday, April 24, in front of Windermere Town Hall.

Two food trucks, Grandma’s BBQ and Smoothie Express, caught on fire prior to Food Truck Night taking place.

According to Windermere Police Chief Dave Ogden, upon arrival, officers saw Gradma’s BBQ food truck fully engulfed in flames, with the fire reaching approximately 20 feet in height.

A portion of the Smoothie Express food truck and a small generator then caught fire as well, due to their proximity to Grandma’s BBQ.

The Ocoee Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly got the fire under control.

No injuries were reported.

Ogden said a Hazmat team was requested as a precaution, the Miller Environmental Group handled cleanup and decontamination efforts, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection was notified regarding potential runoff into nearby drainage systems.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office now is leading the investigation, Ogden said.

“At this time, the fire appears to be accidental in nature,” he said “…There will be no further investigation conducted by the Windermere Police Department.”
