Orange County is hosting a community meeting to discuss a proposed development of 39 single-family dwelling units in Horizon West.

The development is proposed to be constructed at 5477 Avalon Road, which is generally located east of Avalon Road, west of Daniel Webster Western Beltway, south of Malcom Road and north of McKinney Road.

The proposal includes amending the Future Land Use Map designation of the area from Rural Settlement 1/5 to Rural Settlement 1/1.

The applicant also is looking to rezone the property from Citrus Rural District to Planned Development.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 30, in Hamlin Middle School's multi-purpose room. The school is located at 16025 Silver Grove Blvd., Winter Garden.

After the meeting, the request will be scheduled for a Planning and Zoning Commission Hearing. Following the hearing, the case will go to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners.

Those who can't attend the meeting can leave comments at engageorange.ocfl.net
