On Friday, Nov. 4, a big shindig at the Alfond Inn – The Peacock Ball – delighted guests with a delicious dinner, dancing, and a silent auction. The evening honored Winter Park men who managed to avoid “calling it a day” at the end of World War II.

The Winter Park History Museum surely knows how to assemble a lovely evening in showing what wartime life was all about in Winter Park. Four local veterans from WWII were honored for their service at the festivities. Honorees were: Leonard Casselberry (92), Gene Hawkins (92), Alfonzo Roberts (94), and Louis Roney (95).

If you have an opportunity to hear, or better yet dance to, the music of The Orlando Big Band, take advantage – what a sensational group!

Kudos to the Museum’s Executive Director Susan Skolfield, the Board, and volunteers of the Winter Park History Museum. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to enjoy the museum, check it out!
