A string of criminal activity early Wednesday morning culminated in the arrests of two juvenile suspects for vehicle burglary and grand theft auto.

The investigation of the criminal activity by the Windermere Police Department (WPD) and Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) led to the presence of both law enforcement agencies, a K9 Officer, and a police helicopter around Conroy Windermere Road around 9 a.m.

The first criminal event, a vehicle burglary which occurred in the parking lot of the LA Fitness, was reported to OCSO. Within 30 minutes, WPD received a residential alarm call at 7075 Horizon Circle, which is located across the street from the LA fitness.

Although not directly witnessed, WPD suspects the subjects fled the area before a responding officer arrived in six minutes. A few minutes later, a car was reported stolen from 5035 Down Point Lane, which is just west of Horizon Circle.

The suspects then drove the stolen vehicle to a nearby parking lot and returned to school at Olympia High School. A school resource officer flagged them down after noticing some concerns. The two suspects are now in jail.

Residents with any possible information regarding this crime are encouraged to contact Windermere Police Department at 407-876-3757.
