METROWEST – Those who golf at MetroWest Golf Club can expect myriad improvements under the club’s new management.

Hampton Golf, a golf course and club management company based in Jacksonville, has taken over the 220-acre golf course, and its executives have plans to improve the course greens and enhance the restaurant’s ambiance.

“We are investing both a significant amount of human capital and the needed time to improve the turf health of the golf course itself with a lot of agronomic practices that are known across our industry,” said Justin Kuehn, Hampton Golf’s vice president of marketing.

The grass health is priority No. 2 for the company, which manages a total of 22 facilities throughout the country. Priority No. 1, Kuehn emphasized, are the planned improvements to Westerly’s Restaurant, which serves American cuisine overlooking Lake Hiawassee. The various improvements are focused on aesthetics but also will include new menu offerings.

“We’re improving both the feel and aesthetics of both Westerly’s Restaurant and the grill,” Kuehn said. “And we’re also programming those two outlets in a much more specific manner to MetroWest residents. Meaning, you’re going to see a lot more engaging events, such as Mother’s Day buffets and Kids Eat Free nights. These are going to be offerings that we hope say to the community, ‘Hey, come to your club.’”

The main goal behind the improvements is to bring the golf course up to industry standards and market the club and golf course as a community center.

“The way we really looked at this project is not just as an individual golf course but as a big amenity to the MetroWest and West Orange community,” Kuehn said.

The course and restaurant improvements are ongoing, said Kuehn, and Hampton Golf expects them to be completed within four to five months. New membership offerings and prices will be introduced within the next 50 days, as well.

“When we put our hands on a property, especially one that’s been neglected for some time ... we go from cleaning or replacing the toilets all the way to managing the capital for the economics of the place,” Kuehn said.
