Girls soccer: Apopka, West Orange to meet for district crown -- Observer Preps

The Blue Darters topped Dr. Phillips and the Warriors edged Olympia to earn their respective berths in the District 5A-4 Final.

The Apopka Blue Darters (14-3-5) and West Orange Warriors (9-6-2) girls soccer teams will meet on the pitch on the Blue Darters' home turf at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 with the District 5A-4 Championship on the line.

It will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams, with the squads battling to a 1-1 draw back on Dec. 6.

In advancing to the district final, both teams have already clinched berths in the Class 5A State Playoffs.

To get there, Apopka defeated Dr. Phillips 2-0 in the semifinals Jan. 18 and West Orange defeated Olympia 3-2 in overtime in its respective semifinal.

Senior Emma Honis scored the game-winning goal in overtime for the Warriors.
