U.S. Army Lt. Col. Robert Carter spoke about the respect owed to those who fought for America' s freedom. "Those 1.2 million patriots are the reason we are here living free today... they supported a greater cause than themselves."

GOTHA –– The Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home hosted its 67th annual Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 29. Hundreds gathered for the event which started at 10 a.m and included keynote speakers Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demmings and U.S. Army Lt. Col. Robert Carter and featured music performed by the Orlando Concert Band and singer Donna Leigh Hinkley.
Presentation of colors was provided by the Orange County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard and Dr. Phillips High School's Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, followed by local troops and packs of the Boy and Girl Scouts of America. After a presentation of colors, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office did a flyover during the National Anthem.
The service also included a flowers of remembrance ceremony for the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Boy Scouts helped toll the Liberty Bell, followed by a rifle volley salute from the Orange County Sheriff’s Honor Guard and a performance of Echo Taps by the Orlando Concert Band.
