It was a night of celebration and recognition for a beloved Rollins College figure at the Winter Park History Museum's 11th annual Peacock Ball on Friday, Nov. 10. Peacock-feathered Princess Penelope, a WPHM children's show star, welcomed guests dressed in lively colors into the Alfond Inn to celebrate former Rollins College president Dr. Rita Bornstein.
Dr. Bornstein, who helped Rollins College rise from No. 6 to No. 1 among Regional Universities in the South in the US News & World Report during her 14-year tenure, was named Citizen of the Decade by the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce upon her retirement. The ball was filled with friends and colleagues who had nothing but kind things to say about the good doctor.
Guests bid on the silent auction while listening to the 40's tunes of the Orlando Big Band. Funds raised went toward the museum's operation.
