FOOD FOR FAMILIES NEEDS THANKSGIVING VOLUNTEERS

Southeastern Food Bank needs volunteers to box and deliver more than 2,000 boxes of food in its Food For Families Thanksgiving program. It takes place in the cafeteria of Ocoee High School, 1225 Ocoee Crown Point Parkway.

Help is needed beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, to sort and pack boxes. A second shift begins at 10 p.m.

On Thursday, Nov. 23, drivers are needed to deliver the Thanksgiving meals starting at 8 a.m.

For information, call (407) 654-7777 or email office@southeasternfood bank.com.

MEAL AT CHRISTIAN SERVICE CENTER

The Grimes/Carberry families will be providing a free Thanksgiving meal starting at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, at the West Orange Christian Service Center, 300 W. Franklin St., Ocoee.

Forty to 45 turkeys are smoked and cooked, and whoever would like to share a meal with the family is invited to attend. Last year, 230 people were served.

This is the 20th anniversary of the program and is offered in memory of Tera Grimes, who started the tradition. She died in 2015.

No reservations or registration are needed.

Any groups or pastor who need to pick up to-go boxes for shut-ins can call Sandra Carberry at (321) 303-8160 with the number of boxes needed.

FRANK’S PLACE

Frank’s Place, a restaurant and bar at 146 N. Clarke Road, Ocoee, is offering a free buffet from 5 to 8 p.m. on Black Friday, Nov. 24. Diners are asked to take a cash donation for the city of Ocoee’s Holiday Toys for Kids in Need program.

For information, call (407) 291-8330.
