The runners had names like Quesadilla, Chi Chi and Sir Charles Barkley. Several were dressed in sombreros and superhero costumes. Some were destined to win; others were content to sniff and make new friends.
The Crooked Can Brewing Company held its second Derby de Mayo Chihuahua Run on Saturday, May 5, and there was quite a crowd there to witness the fun.
Chihuahuas of all shapes and sizes — and their eager owners — vied for the top prize of a $50 Crooked Can gift card, a dog-sized sash of red roses and other goodies.
The $10 entry fee went to A Cause 4 Paws Rescue and adoption organization in Orlando.
