In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, OCPS Senior Administrator for Athletics & Activities Doug Patterson informed schools late Monday night that all fall sports — including bowling, cross country, football, golf, sideline cheer, swimming & diving and girls volleyball — will be postponed until further notice.

The news, which was shared via social media by multiple schools, came just moments after the FHSAA held an emergency board meeting Monday, July 20, to address the upcoming fall season, in which — after over five hours of discussion — the board voted 10-5 to keep its July 27 start date, while allowing schools to start practice and competition at their discretion. Schools will also have to declare their intention of whether or not they will participate in the state series by a specific date that will ultimately be determined by the FHSAA staff.

Despite the delay, athletic programs around the area will still be allowed to continue their current conditioning pod workouts.
