High school athletes around Orange County received some good news Thursday, June 18, following a call from Orange County Public Schools regarding the start of summer workouts.

Starting Monday, July 6, student-athletes who participate in bowling, cheerleading, cross country, football, swimming and diving, golf and girls volleyball will be allowed back to campuses to train and get ready for the fall sports season. Along with sports, band members will also be allowed to get back to campus to prepare for their own season.

The return date will be the first time student-athletes — either on the field or in the weight room — have returned to campus since the spring season was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic in mid-March.
