Some Florida visitors might have to immediately quarantine themselves once they get to the state.

Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order on Tuesday, March 24, directing all persons coming to Florida from the New York tri-state area — New York, New Jersey and Connecticut — to self-isolate or quarantine themselves for a period of 14 days from the time they enter the state or the duration of the individual’s stay in the state; whichever is shorter. The order was issued as a means to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

The same day, DeSantis also issued an executive order directing the State Surgeon General and State Health Office to issue a public health advisory to all individuals ages 65 and over urging them to stay home and take other measures necessary to limit their rise of exposure to COVID-19.
