Summer camps and youth activities now are allowed to reopen effective immediately, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said.

During a press conference in Jacksonville Friday, May 22, DeSantis announced that such activities can resume without additional state restrictions. Local governments and organizations still can put their own restrictions in place.

"At the end of the day, we trust parents to be able to make decisions in conjunction with physicians and community leaders and coaches to be able to do these activities in a way that are safe," DeSantis said.

Parents should check with their municipalities, camps and other organizations for any additional restrictions or rules they might choose to enforce.
