Sonic is joining the Horizon West area.

The national drive-up, fast, casual chain will soon be opening its new location, according to a recent filing with the State of Florida.

Sonic is known for its American classics such as burgers, hot dogs, chicken fingers and sandwiches, along with milkshakes, slushes, lemonades, and other drink choices.

The restaurant will be located at 13372 Hartzog Road.

Most Sonic locations are designed for customers to drive-up to and order, then eat in their cars or head home. Some locations even feature recreational facilities such as volleyball courts or playgrounds for children.

After three previous business ventures, founder Troy Smith struck gold with the first Sonic Drive-In located in the small town of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

The first Sonic restaurant opened in 1953, and the chain has now grown to house more than 3,000 locations in the United States.
