Horizon High parents receive email regarding empty bullet shells

Principal Andrew Jackson stressed nothing was found in the bathrooms after the school was made aware of a social media post.

CLARIFICATION: Orange County Public Schools has stated there was no threat to the school.


Parents of Horizon High School students received an email Friday, Jan. 20, from Principal Andrew Jackson regarding a social media post that included a photo of empty bullet shells indicating they were found in one of the school bathrooms.

“School administration and the school resource officers searched the area and students (who) were seen in the area,” Jackson wrote in the email. “Nothing was found.

“Please know we take these matters very seriously, as the safety of our students and staff is always my top priority,” he wrote.

Jackson urged parents to talk to their children about making good choices, to regularly check their backpacks and to review the Code of Student Conduct with them.
