One dead in fatal crash off S.R. 535

A 44-year-old male from Lakeland is dead following a fatal crash off South Apopka-Vineland Road and Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores Drive.

One person is dead following a fatal crash that took place around 11 p.m. Sunday, April 21, off South Apopka-Vineland Road and Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores Drive.

According to a crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 20-year-old female from Kissimmee was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry southbound on State Road 535, south of LBV Factory Stores Drive in the outside lane, when she hit a walking pedestrian. 

The 44-year-old male from Lakeland was walking in a southerly direction on the unpaved shoulder of the southbound lanes of Apopka-Vineland Road, south of LBV Factory Stores Drive, ahead of the vehicle. 

The female driver failed to maintain the southbound lane and veered onto the unpaved shoulder. 

As a result, the front right of the vehicle struck the walking pedestrian. 

The driver of the vehicle was not injured. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on-scene. 

FHP officers said the crash currently is still under investigation.
