The Winter Garden Fire Rescue Department and the Ocoee Fire Department are assisting in providing CPR training to more than 30,000 Orange County Public Schools students.

The American Heart Association and local first responders from multiple agencies will actively train students at various OCPS high schools in the process of providing the hands-only form of CPR.

The WGFRD will travel to West Orange High School, while the Ocoee FD will travel to Ocoee High School, both on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Students also will learn other skills, such as how to check for vitals, asses ABC's and perform chest compressions.

According to the AHA, applying CPR reduces the risk of a person suffering damage to their heart, brain and other vital organs.

Other agencies involved in the training include the Orlando Fire Department, Orange County Fire Rescue, Apopka Fire Department and Winter Park Fire Rescue.
