Kyle Goudy has announced his candidacy for the Orange County School Board District 4 seat.

Goudy is a father and the son of public educators. He has worked in the public school system and served as a public education advocate.

Goudy said he recognizes the challenges public educators face, and he firmly believes when parents and teachers work together, all students benefit.

He said he is worried about the direction education is heading.

With his daughter, Lilly, entering the Orange County Public Schools system, Goudy decided it was time to take action.

"We believe that with common sense policies and hard work we can help restore our Orange County education system," Goudy's campaign website reads.

Goudy hosted a campaign kickoff event with more than 100 attendees Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Orange Tree Golf Club.
