Rather than Southwest Middle School's gym being used for sports the night of Friday, April 25, it was used for more than a dozen various arts performances.
From Southwest Middle School's jazz band, show choir, chorus, string symphony and wind ensemble to Dr. Phillips High School's premier orchestra to Bay Meadows Elementary Koala Chorus and Sand Lake Elementary Sound Waves, the arts were celebrated in full force during Southwest Middle School's 14th annual Festival of the Arts.
Outside the gym, Southwest Middle School band and orchestra students were showing elementary students how to play their instruments in the instrument petting zoo. In the courtyard, students were drawing in chalk.
Sally Marjama, the fine arts chair at Southwest Middle School, said the festival gets bigger and better every year. The festival celebrates students participating in the arts from elementary through high school.
