The First Academy students shine at 2025 Applause Awards

TFA students earned top awards and scholarships at this year's awards.

The First Academy’s fine arts program took center stage Saturday, May 31, at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and earned standing ovations and high honors during the 2025 Applause Awards

The annual celebration of high school musical theater in Central Florida recognized multiple TFA students for their contributions and performances.

Mia Brian earned the Outstanding Lead Performer award, while Tori Smith was named Outstanding Supporting Actor. Hope DeBoom received the award for Outstanding Stage Manager, becoming TFA’s first two-time winner in the category.

In addition to their awards, both Smith and DeBoom received scholarships in recognition of their hard work. 

Brian, Smith and TFA’s Director’s Choice honoree Marina Schmid also performed in the opening medley of the show. 

Capping off the night, TFA received the prestigious Legacy Award for a decade of participation in the Applause Awards program.
