The Ocoee Police Department is hosting a Shred to Protect event from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the station, 646 Ocoee Commerce Parkway, Ocoee. This allows area residents the opportunity to safely dispose of their confidential documents to avoid identity theft and fraud.

The first box is free, with a suggested donation of $5 per box after. Participants are limited to five boxes. Items accepted are folders, file folders, papers, staples and paper clips.

The event will benefit Lions International and the Woman’s Club of Ocoee.
