Learn how to turn your kitchen scraps and yard waste into compost that can be used in your garden in a “Back to the Basics” seminar. This free composting class will be taught by Calvin Gardner, the Urban Residential Horticulture agent for UF/IFAS Orange County. It takes place from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Winter Garden City Hall, 300 W. Plant St.

The one-hour class will cover topics such as what can be composted, how to use a composter, how to make compost quickly and how to use compost in the garden. This gives residents a chance to explore another great way to reduce waste in the home.

Advance registration is required. Send an email to [email protected] or call (407) 877-5193.
