The Ocoee Police Department and Project ChildSafe — a nationwide education program that promotes responsible gun ownership and safe firearm storage in the home — have joined forces to give away free cable-style gun locks.

Ocoee residents can pick up a free lock at the police station at 646 Ocoee Commerce Parkway during normal business hours. There is no registration or sign-up; all that's required to get the gun lock is valid identification to confirm Ocoee residency.

For more information on the free gun locks, contact Ocoee P.D. at (407) 905-3160, and for more on  Project ChildSafe, visit projectchildsafe.org.
