Canine Companions West Orange campus raises $1 million

Southeast Region’s Independence is Golden Gala raised more than $1 million, the first time in the organization’s 50-year history.

Canine Companions marked a historic milestone as the Southeast Region’s Independence is Golden Gala raised more than $1 million Saturday, Oct. 25.

This is the organization’s first time reaching this milestone since its opening 50 year ago. 

The event celebrated Canine Companions' five decades of providing service dogs free of charge to people with disabilities. 

"The record-breaking success of the Gala underscores the extraordinary generosity, passion and commitment of Canine Companions’ community of supporters," a news release said. "The event’s success was made possible through the dedication of sponsors, donors, volunteers, clients and staff—the heart of the organization’s mission." 

According to the news release, this accomplishment will pave the way for an even brighter future for the nonprofit.
