Four local high school track-and-field teams competed in FHSAA 4A District 5 district meet

Districts wrapped up with Horizon boys and Olympia girls in second on the leaderboard.

The Class 4A District 5 track-and-field meet took place at Cypress Creek High Wednesday, April 15. Of the nine teams competing for their shot at regionals, four local high schools tested the waters. 

On the boys' side, Horizon High claimed second with 102, Windermere High in third with 86, Dr. Phillips High in fifth with 77.5 and OIympia High in eighth with 54. 

Individually in the track events, Dr. Phillips' Jaiden Smith won the 100M and 200M; Horizon's Jacob Finch and Maleik Lewis took first and second in the 1600M; Windermere's Gabriel Yange Pfeifer, Cameron Jones, Aiden Johnston and Onix Vazquez won the 4 x 100 relay; Windermere's Brent Rossi, Jack Reed, Jordan Riley and Cameron Jones won the 4 x 400 relay.  In the high jump, Horizon's Blake Mottley took first, Windermere's Armond Pierce took second and Horizon's Jayden Campbell took third. Horizon's Fabiano Foga won the long jump with his mark of 6.43M and Olympia's Colton Showley won the javelin. 

On the girls' side, Olympia claimed second with 135, just .5 behind first-place, Dr. Phillips in fifth with 69.5, Windermere in sixth with 69 and Horizon in seventh with 61. 

In the track events, Dr. Phillips' Peyton Castell and Riley Martin took first and second in 100M; Castell also won the 200M; Horizon's Layla Williams won the 400M; Windermere's Annabella Ekebergh won the 3200M; Windermere's Jayda Gordon, Alexis Mincey, Jaslyn So and Aaliyah Robinson won the 4 x 100 relay, and Dr. Phillips' Riley Martin, Kenesha Gaudin, Yamilah Raymond and Aviance Martin came in second; Horizon's Williams, Laila Seidu, Morgan McCoy and Zoe Geyer won the 4 x 400 relay. In the pole valut, Dr. Phillips' Gabriella Leon won first; Olympia's Laryn Coleman and Aliyah Jones finished first and second in the long jump. Olympia's Jaliya Porter won the shot put.
