Foundation Academy girls track-and-field team sets records at districts

The team earned its first district runners-up title since 2023 in the 1A District 8 Championships Thursday, April 23.

Following the end of the regular season for track and field, teams have shifted their focuses towards reaching post-season glory. 

Foundation Academy, The First Academy and Legacy High School competed in the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A, District 8 Championship at Holy Trinity Thursday, April 23. 

The Lions' girls team clinched the district runners-up, breaking the three-year drought from the title. 

During the second-place finish, Lee Peters led the way for Foundation by sprinting in first for the 100M and 200M dashes, and helped the 4x100M relay team earn a second-place finish. In the relay, Peters, Katie Rosenthal, Ashley Jones and Gracen Field set school history with a new record of 49.76 seconds. Eighth grader Jesslyn Porter earned first in the triple jump. Morgan Flournoy broke the school's record in the javelin throw with her distance of 34.14 meters, which won the event.
