Ocoee PD assists with drug trafficking group takedown

The Ocoee Police Department shared some exciting news with its residents. 

On Monday, April 27, Ocoee officers stood alongside partners at the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation and the Orange County Sheriff's Office to announce the takedown of a drug trafficking group in Central Florida. 

According to its announcement, it was a major Central Florida drug trafficking group. 

The operation, also known as "Operation It's A Trap," consisted of months of investigations. 

Together, the Ocoee Police Department, the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation and the Orange County Sheriff's Office seized more than 6 kilograms of cocaine, $1.1 million in cash, nearly 30 firearms. 

The operation also resulted in multiple arrests. 

"We are proud of the work our officer assigned to MBI contributed to this multi-agency effort," the police department posted. "Partnerships like these are critical in keeping dangerous drugs and illegal firearms out of our communities."
