Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies shot and killed a woman Wednesday, June 3, in Dr. Phillips.

According to OCSO, deputies responded to a home around 1 p.m. in the 8200 block of Tivoli Drive, Orlando, in Dr. Phillips, regarding a woman in the street, screaming.

When deputies arrived, they knocked on the woman's door, and she came out holding a knife, threatening to kill the officers.

"Deputies retreated back toward the street and ordered her to drop the knife several times," Sheriff John Mina said during a press conference. "She refused to drop the knife and shouted, 'I'll kill you,' as she continued to advance."

That's when three deputies fired their guns, striking the woman.

Deputies provided first aid until paramedics arrived, and she was transported to the hospital.

The three deputies now are on administrative paid leave until investigations on the shooting are completed.

Mina said since the incident, OCSO found out the woman had been Baker Acted throughout Florida in different jurisdictions, though it is not clear what her condition was.
