Earthquake occurs off Cuba's coast, felt across Florida

The 6.1 magnitude earthquake took place at 2 p.m. Monday, June 8, off the northwest coast of Cuba.

An earthquake off the coast of Cuba sent shockwaves felt all across the state of Florida. 

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 6.1-magnitude earthquake happened just 65 miles west-northwest of Mantua, Cuba. 

The shockwaves traveled hundreds of miles north, which were felt throughout Southwest Florida, South Florida and Central Florida.  

There currently are no reports of damage from Cuba or Florida. 

The National Weather Service officials in the Florida Keys said there is no tsunami threat from the earthquake.
