Eight Waves, a Winter Garden nonprofit dedicated to supporting under-resourced children and families, shared a heartwarming announced Friday, June 5.

According to a social media post, Skanska USA Building Inc., a construction and development company, donated more than 50 bicycles for the families of Eight Waves.

For families facing hardships, a bike can make an immense different.

It can get someone to and from work, to and from school, allows easier access to childcare, grocery stores, after-school programs, and creates greater independence and opportunities.

"Transportation impacts nearly every aspect of life," Eight Waves officials said. "When a child or parent has a reliable way to get where they need to go, doors begin to open. We watched children beam with excitement as they picked out their bikes. We watched families leave with more than transportation—they left with opportunity."
