Town of Oakland officials are warning residents of a circulating scam.

Residents are reporting having received an invoice from what appears to be the town's Planning and Zoning Commission, which includes an itemized breakdown of the invoice.

"Our Planning & Zoning will not send out an invoice," officials posted online. "Any fees due will be communicated directly from individuals within the department. We do not accept wires from anyone, nor will we ask for a wire payment. We do not have urgent time limits for invoices."

When in doubt, call the finance department at 407-656-1117.

Any town communication will come directly from an Oakland domain email address.
