Southwest Middle School's Damian Rosado no longer will be serving as the principal of the school beginning Tuesday, June 30. He has accepted a new position with the Osceola County School District.

Rosado said serving as Southwest Middle's principals was one of the greatest honors of his career. In his three years there, the school returned to an "A" school rating, which he said was a testament to the community, faculty, staff and students.

"As I move on to the next chapter of my career, I do so with immense pride in all that we have accomplished together," Rosado wrote. "Southwest Middle School will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am confident the school will continue to thrive and build upon its success. Thank you for the opportunity to serve Orange County Public Schools and the Southwest Middle School community. I wish the district, the school and the entire Dr. Phillips community continued success in the years ahead."

Orange County Public School district leadership is looking for input from stakeholders on what characteristics they are looking for in the next principal.
