District 1 Youth Leadership Council accepting applications

Applications are being accepted for the District 1 Youth Leadership Council until Friday, May 15. 

The council is a collaborative initiative between District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson and Empower Teens United. 

The members will work with peers  and local leaders to address community challenges; build leadership, communication, problem-solving and advocacy skills; identify community issues, develop solutions and present recommendations to Wilson; and lead projects that strengthen schools, communities and the future. 

Students in grades nine through 12 who live in Orange County District 1 can apply. 

Those who are accepted to the council will participate in monthly meetings, committee work and special projects. 

There are both in-person and virtual opportunities to participate. 

Applicants will be notified of acceptance via email Monday, May 18.
