Winter Garden senior-living proposal up for reconsideration

After having been postponed twice due to city leaders' requests for reconfiguration, the Stoneybrook Senior Living PUD will once again go before the Winter Garden City Commission.

The proposal is up for a second reading and public hearing during the Thursday, Aug. 13, City Commission meeting. Commissioners will discuss five ordinances related to the project.

These ordinances would allow city annexation of approximately 8.95 acres at 12920 Reaves Road; amendment of the future land-use map plan for the same property from Orange County Rural to City Low-Density Residential; annexation of approximately 1.8 acres at 12921 Reaves Road; amendment of the future land-use map plan for that property from Orange County Rural to City Low-Density Residential; and rezoning of the total 10.75 acres from Orange County A-1 (Agricultural) and R-CE-2 (Rural Residential) to City PUD (Planned Unit Development).

When revisited in March, plans for the Stoneybrook Senior Living PUD included a three-story, independent-living building and a two-story, assisted-living building for a total of 166 units. There would also be 10 detached, two-car garage buildings. 

Commissioners decided to postpone the proposal in order to allow the applicant and his team to draw up some concepts with only two-story buildings. However, according to city documents, proposed plans still include the three-story, independent-living building.
