YMCA of Central Florida partners with OneBlood

With the coronavirus pandemic causing the need for social distancing, businesses and organizations are taking a hit.

Among those much needed organizations being affected is the not-for-profit OneBlood, which serves more than 250 hospitals.

Since the arrival of the coronavirus, OneBlood has had its facilities temporarily closed and nearly 1,700 blood drives canceled — accounting for nearly 25,000 uncollected blood donations. But now there is a chance for you to help give back to those in need.

OneBlood has partnered with the YMCA of Central Florida, who will be offering 15 of its YMCA family center parking lots as donation sites for OneBlood’s mobile Big Red Buses this weekend. 

Due to the limit on gatherings of 10 or less individuals, donors will be asked to provide their cellphone numbers so they can wait in their vehicles — or outside — the Big Red Bus. They will then be called when it is their turn to donate blood.
