Obituary: Lawrence W. Dion

Lawrence W. Dion, 69, of North Port, Florida, and formerly of Ocoee, passed away peacefully at home on June 25 after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Larry was born April 15, 1946, in Moultrie, Georgia. He moved to Florida after serving his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Larry retired from his lawn-maintenance business and moved to North Port in 2013. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean P. and Mildred Dion. 

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sandra L.; sons, Larry Wayne (Tonya), John Paul (Becky) and Jimmy J. Adams (Angela); and his loving grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul J. (Linda), Michael A. and David C. (Allison); and several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 4962 S. Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando, Florida 32819. 

As per Larry’s wishes, his ashes will be interred at Pleasant Cemetery, Nashville, Georgia. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Tidewell Hospice Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238; or Christ the King Lutheran Church.
