Helen was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina, on Feb. 9, 1940, to parents John Neel and Helen Johnston Stewart. They moved to Florida in 1947.
Helen attended Edgewater High School and later graduated from Florida State University, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She married Jerry Alvin Kennedy in 1965, and they lived in Orlando. They later moved to West Orange County.
Helen was a teacher for more than 30 years and spent most of her career teaching second grade at Dillard Street Elementary School. She was a founding member of the Bloom and Grow Garden Society and was active for many years. She also devoted her time teaching children to read at the Christian Service Center.
She is predeceased by her husband, Jerry Kennedy; and her parents, John Neel and Helen Johnston Stewart.
She is survived by her brother, John Neel Stewart Jr.
