SATURDAY, SEPT. 19

Four-Person Scramble Golf Outing — Tee-off at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Windermere Country Club, 2710 Butler Bay Drive N., Windermere. The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Windermere is hosting the annual event to raise money for Ms. Minnie’s Kids, which provides after-school programs and meals to underprivileged children. MONDAY, SEPT. 21

Breastfeeding 101 — 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at the Winter Garden Library, 805 E. Plant St. Learn the benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby. THURSDAY, SEPT. 24

Fitness Belly Dance for Life — 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, through Dec. 10, at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 N. Dillard St., Winter Garden. No classes Nov. 5, 12 and 26. This program is designed to incorporate technique, cardio fitness and weight training — all while learning the art of belly dance. Ages 18 and older. THURSDAY, OCT. 1

Food for Life: The Power of Food for Health — 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 1 through Nov. 5, at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 N. Dillard St. This course is a nutritional lecture and live cooking demonstration (with tastings) at each class. Focused on a diet high in plant-based foods to promote healthy weight and fight chronic disease. Participants will gain a better understanding of how what we eat affects our total health, energy and mood by cooking simple, healthy meals from whole fruits, vegetables, grains and starches. SATURDAY, SEPT. 26

West Orange Junior Service League 5K at Oakland Park — 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Oakland Park, 15241 E. Oakland Ave., Winter Garden. Cost to participate is $25 through Sept. 19, $30 from Sept. 20 to 25 and $35 on race day. Funds raised will benefit the West Orange Junior Service League. The Approach to Self-Defense — 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 N. Dillard St., Winter Garden. This method was developed by Hall-of-Fame member Eddie Quinn. This self-protection method is developed so self-defense could be understood in even the most simplest form. Ages 18 and older. Cost is $50 for Winter Garden residents and $60 for non-residents. Everything You Need to Know About the Health Insurance Marketplace — 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at the West Oaks Branch Library, 1821 E. Silver Star Road, Ocoee. Police Athletic League Donut Dash 5K — 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves. Runners who consume donuts at one of two zones along the route will earn 30 seconds off their time for each donut they eat. Each adult entry comes with one free child’s entry to the accompanying Mini Donut Fun Run for children ages 5 to 12. Chair Yoga — 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays, at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 N. Dillard St., Winter Garden. Seniors can experience the many health benefits of yoga at no cost. The routine is safe and gentle with low-impact stretching and breathing exercises. (407) 656-4155.

Chair-O-Bics — 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 N. Dillard St., Winter Garden. Get moving in this recreational, self-guided chair exercise class. Gentle Yoga — 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesdays, at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 N. Dillard St., Winter Garden. This class is great for beginners. Ages 16 and up are welcome. Line Dancing — 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 27, at the Jessie Brock Community Center, 310 N. Dillard St., Winter Garden. It is a dance that is choreographed with sequences of steps that are repeated. A group of people dance in one or more lines, all facing the same direction and performing the steps at the same time. Health Central Walkers — 8:30 a.m. daily, at the West Oaks Mall, 9401 W. Colonial Drive, No. 728, Ocoee. Walkers meet at the food court entrance. Put on a pair of walking shoes and join friends and neighbors for a brisk stroll. The group also hosts a monthly breakfast. Attendees are asked to bring at least one canned food donation for Second Harvest Food Bank. Donations may be dropped off at the Community Relations department, fourth floor, Health Central Hospital, 10000 W. Colonial Drive, Ocoee.

SHINE — 10 a.m. to noon the third Monday of the month in the Bradford Room at Health Central Hospital, 10000 W. Colonial Drive, Ocoee. Want to see if you can save money on your prescription drugs? Are you new to Medicare and not sure what options you have? The Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) program is offered at no cost. Trained volunteers can assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, caregivers and others with Medicare and health-insurance questions. AARP Driver Safety Program — 9 a.m. to noon on select dates at the Health Central Park auditorium, 411 N. Dillard St., Winter Garden. Cardiac Rehabilitation Program — Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (by appointment) at Health Central Hospital, 10000 W. Colonial Drive, Ocoee. Cardiac patients, such as those who have suffered heart attack, those with stable angina and those who have had open-heart surgery, are encouraged to participate in this program. Childbirth Educational Class — held weekly in Health Central Hospital’s Gleason Room, 10000 W. Colonial Drive, Ocoee. These classes are designed to prepare expectant parents for the childbirth experience. Participants are encouraged to bring at least two pillows, a blanket, a coach, a drink and a snack.
