Regional roundup: CFCA, Windermere Prep only boys hoops teams left standing

The Eagles upset Mount Dora Christian while the Lakers pounded New Dimensions, advancing both teams to their respective regional semifinals on Tuesday.

The regional quarterfinals of the FHSAA Boys Basketball State Playoffs came and went Feb. 11, with four coverage area programs entering and just two advancing onward to Tuesday's regional semifinals.

 

CFCA 68, Mount Dora Christian Academy 47

A big night from senior Jerred Treacy helped power the Eagles past MDCA, ranked No. 4 in the state in Class 2A. A full recap is available here.

 

Windermere Prep 76, New Dimensions 41

David Nickelberry scored 28 points and recorded 12 rebounds as the Lakers created some distance in the second quarter and never looked back en route to a decided playoff victory. Parker Davis had 17 points.

Knights nearly pulled off the upset of 7A's No. 4 team.

The Panthers' 22-year streak of 20-win seasons was snapped as they fell to the No. 1 team in Class 8A.
