The Florida Collegiate Summer League named Winter Garden Squeeze’s Leo Suarez as the recipient of the 2026 David Eckstein Sportsmanship Award Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Suarez, a Polk State player, became the third Squeeze player to win the award, behind Chase Smartt in 2017 and Tripp Landers in 2024.
A player from each of the FCSL’s teams was nominated by their coach with criteria including the player’s performance on the field, respect for the game, umpires and opponents, and willingness to work hard while showcasing high character.
Suarez played in 22 games for the Squeeze, assisting with the team’s second-place finish in regular season by recording 14 walks with his 13 hits.
