Winter Garden boy earns third invitation to Pokémon World Championships

Lleyton Chan, 12, has qualified for the 2026 championships, his third consecutive appearance.

Winter Garden 12-year-old Lleyton Chan once again will compete at the Pokémon World Championships.

This year marks Chan's third consecutive qualification for the world championships.

He will compete in the Senior Division, which consists of players ages 12 to 15, for the first time.

At the Regional Championship in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Chan competed against 335 players and placed sixth.

"It was a remarkable debut in a division filled with older and more experienced players and gave him an early boost of confidence for the season ahead," according to a press release.

Chan will travel to compete in the Pokémon World Championships Friday, Aug. 28, through Saturday, Aug. 30, in San Francisco.
