OCOEE  The Ocoee Police Department and the Joint Homicide Investigation Team of the Ninth Judicial Circuit (JHIT) are investigating a potential homicide amid a violent incident at 12:15 p.m. Jan. 3, in the area of West Road and Ocoee-Apopka Road.

Norris Daquan Adams, 17, was a car passenger who suffered from gunshot wounds with a 16-year-old passenger whose identity is not revealed at this time. Adams died from his injuries, but officials expect the other passenger to survive.

JHIT officials learned a large group had gathered in the parking lots of McDonald’s and Walgreens at the intersection of West Road and Ocoee-Apopka Road. Reports indicate a large fight broke out in these connecting parking lots, with numerous gunshots fired.

Investigators believe the victims were attempting to flee when the suspect vehicle arrived next to the victims’ car and fired numerous gunshots at the victims’ car. This shooting happened about one block east of the intersection of West Road and Ocoee-Apopka Road, officials said.

Descriptions involve a suspect vehicle that was a newer, red Nissan or Chevrolet four-door car, from which a passenger fired the gunshots. The suspect vehicle fled on West Road, toward State Road 429.

JHIT personnel are trying to identify the suspects in this homicide and asking for any witnesses to this incident or persons who know the identity of the suspects to call Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.
